With all life’s little journeys, very often a small change accelerates into more change.
Spending last Christmas with a group of hard working friends in their 40’s and 50’s certainly brought that home to me.
What’s interesting from a clients perspective these days is that they are very often more familiar with the change than the business implementing it !
Smart phone users are actively connecting to business that takes them seriously.
On every social occasion and with every business interaction on their phone they were looking for added value and instantaneous completion.
Often the associated APP makes completion quicker, cheaper and easier
The value is very often associated with a referral reward, and not necessarily financial.
They connected and disconnected in the blink of an eye.
They know exactly what they are looking for and dispel even the slightest hint of inadequate interaction.
Most websites do not work properly on a Smart phone.
They do not load instantly, have clunky navigation, have no two way communication and only work online.
If there is a word that describes this Smartphone user interaction succinctly, it’s the word immediacy.
I heard the phrase “There’s an APP for that” on numerous occasions.
And pointing their camera at a QR code was so automatic, conversation was unhindered.
The very first children born in the 1960’s are 60 this year.
I asked if they would recommend an APP to friends and got a duh look across the table.
Then one friend Sarah said “actually, its not easy sharing or recommending APPS on social media is it”
And she was right, old NATIVE APPS live secretly in the APP store waiting to be downloaded.
Then here friend said “I only share for reward”
It transpired that her bank rewarded her for higher transactional payments.
She took the cash from 10 of us and paid the bill through the restaurant APP she got from QR on the table top and kept the 15% discount.
Clever I thought.
Customers are actively looking for added value through their smart phones.
And QR is a brilliant old technology that has surged in professional use during the pandemic.

A couple of things have changed.
